I’m a relatively new user of eQUEST and recently modeled a building with electric baseboard heating. I wanted to see the results of an air source heat pump replacement for the baseboard and I went into the design wizard to make the change. Pretty simple changes, just added dx cooling and heating, left the default temperatures the same, limited the schedule a bit to match occupancy, and added a code compliant EER and COP. However, in the simulation results, space heating increased from 57 to 67 MWH, and HP supply increased from 0 to 80 MWh. This means an overall increase of 90 MWH for replacing baseboard heating with a heat pump (not to mention the increase of space cooling, which I expected). What have I missed?
