Hello All,
The High Perf Buildings and Standards development office at CEC is
looking for qualified individuals who would like to work in developing
and shaping the building energy efficiency standards in California,
which are commonly referred to as Title 24.
Specifically, there is the need to find a lighting technical lead,
working on the Title 24 lighting Standards at the California Energy
Commission, in Sacramento. The ideal candidate will have the following
skills:
? A strong energy efficiency ethic. Someone who believes in the
value of the lighting energy efficiency Standards.
? A basic understanding of lighting codes, standards, and
practices, including California Title 24, ASHRAE/IES 90.1, UL, ANSI, Ca
Electric Code, IESNA (LMs, RPs, DGs), federal codes, Energy Star?
? Excellent listening and verbal skills. Enjoy working with
people having a wide variety of interests and perspectives. Able to
explain difficult concepts in an easy to understand manner.
? Excellent writing skills. Able to write clear letters, emails,
code language, technical manuals.
? Basic understanding of lighting technology and design. CRI,CCT,
vision, all lamp and ballast types, luminaires, efficacy, efficiency,
lighting calculations, interior and exterior lighting applications,
lighting design software?
? Able to do costs and energy savings analysis.
Anyone interested in working at the California Energy Commission must
first take an exam, and earn a sufficiently high rank on a list, before
they can be considered for an interview for a position.

The applicable positions currently testing are:
Associate Energy Specialist (EFF)
Energy Commission Specialist I (EFF)
Also there will soon be a posting for Energy Commission Specialist II
(EFF) exam, which is for candidates with more experience. However, if
interested it is advisable to apply for the currently open exams at the
earliest to get into state service.
