LEED AP with Specialty (earned through prescriptive maintenance)
Option 1: Take the test
Cost: $350 – Pass or fail ($250 for USGBC members)
Timeline: Within a 9 month window starting 1 year into your reporting period
Option 2*:Credential maintenance, maintained by earning CE hours
Cost: Much less, depending on how you meet the requirements.
CE hours: 30 hours total, of which 6 must be LEED specific. For the first reporting period, the hours must be met in multiple categories
Timeline: Two years after your reporting period, and every two years thereafter
*Our Recommendation: For the first reporting period, meet the full 6 hours required under “Project systems and energy impacts” by either taking our TRACE 700 online course, or eQUEST online. If you have the BD+C specialty, you can meet 3 of your 6 LEED specific hours by taking the LEED for energy-modelers course.
For the second reporting period, the CMP category hours are no longer prescriptive and you may count all hours from our online courses (current total is 27 CE hours)
