[Partial Transcript, sign up for full] So that effectively completes the basic envelope and interior of the building. So after we get this far, things actually get much more difficult. And so in this particular project, it's not too bad, and we’ll see why. It's just on account of the square footage. So we’ll save this now, we made our changes. Let’s just launch the cheat sheet again. And so here we're just going to click on the grey box. And we already know in general basically where we are in the systems. So wherever you put your cursor and start to scroll, it won’t center on that. So the next thing we need to determine is the system type. This is from Appendix G. And this is why we needed to know the size of the building, also the type of heat. And so this building is 25,400 square feet and it's using fossil fuel. And so we immediately eliminate the electric heating column, and so we know we're at one, three, five seven; we know were at an odd number of system. And we are greater, nonresidential, or five floors or less, which is us, and 25-150,000 square feet. So we are at system five, package VAV with reheats. And so that’s the system that we started out with which obviously makes this a bit more simple. Otherwise we would need to switch system types. If this building was less than 25,000 square feet, we would be at system three. So just 500 square feet less, and we would be at system three, and this would mean that we would have quite a bit more work to do because we would have to create a system for every thermal block. So in this case we have system five, so we have a VAV system which we already have started with. Now there are a few things that we need to be aware of. Right below this is the type and number of systems again this is specified. For systems five through eight, each floor shall be modeled with separate HVAC system. Well interestingly enough we have two systems. However one of them is a heat pump which we need to get rid of because this says nothing about heat pumps. So remember that; the number of systems that you have in your proposed could match up with the number that you have in your baseline. But they really have nothing to do with each other. The number of systems is defined by G3.1.1. And so if we follow through the rest of this cheat sheet, which we're not going to because there are a lot of rules. I’ll just point out the highlights. One we need to have an economizer. And we mentioned the table, but the climate zoner already told us what we needed. And it told us that we're going to need, since we're system five, which is between three and eight, we do need an economizer, and it's going to be 70 degrees, counting the shut offs. So we have that. For VAV systems our VAV minimum is allowed to be .4 CFM per square foot as opposed to the default which is at 30% minimum. And so not all of these are important for this particular project but they’re all important and you should check them every time. So one of the things that you’ll just know by heart after doing one of these models is that equipment needs to be oversized by 15% for cooling and 25% for heating. It’s just one of their rules. And the logic behind that is simply that most people apply a safety factor, and therefore the baseline building should be the same. We knew the fan kW per CFM earlier, but it’s going to change and it’s going to be defined based on this equation. We’ll get to that. There’s a little bit of a cheat that we have created for you on that as well. And so sometimes we need the man-controlled ventilation. It’s based on a specific number of things. In smaller buildings, it’s less likely and it is not required in this building. So this is something that you do need to check, but if we cover all of these little caveats, we won’t get to the main point. If you miss this, the LEED reviewer might catch it and say “You need to add this to you model.” That’s the worse that’s going to happen. And therefore it’s something that we need to point out, but we don’t need to walk through. Similarly it's a demand controlled ventilation being required in the baseline building. Energy recovery is also needed but you need to be, one of the key here is 70% or greater outdoor air, and at least 5,000 CFM. So while we had somewhere around 16,000 CFM, we were not anywhere near 70% outside air. And so one of the other things is fan sizing is so important. It also specifies a 20° delta T, and we’ll get to that. In fact that’s one of the defaults because we had one 75° set point and a 55° supply air, we already have a 20° delta T. Sort of an industry standard but it needs to be in your baseline. And then there are a number of these little caveats here. We have to have supply air reset. It’s pretty simple to set up in eQUEST. So these are things that you just want to walk through the cheat sheet and see if you need. Thus the reason for the cheat sheet. We took everything out of the 200 pages that’s very relevant and put it in here. So yes I do know that it’s a lot. And so modeling the baseline building is definitely not easy. Okay so what do we really know? We know that we need to make an air handling unit for the second floor and first floor and they both need to be VAV. And that it needs supplier reset and that it needs a few of these other parameters. It needs to be oversize. It needs to have the fan calculated for it and so on. So common procedure, what people do immediately is they go ahead and create a second system. We’re going to open this. And so because they say, ‘Oh, okay so we need two systems, let’s create the second system.” But whenever you’re going to copy a system, especially something for the baseline, we should at least apply the mandatory changes first, right. Because why copy this and then make the change in the second air handling unit. So what we can do here, we have to undo some of the stuff that we already did. For instance the flow, just restore the flow. But eQUEST is going to calculate the flow. We started with the 16,000 CFM but we just changed the envelope. We changed all the glass type. We increased the lighting. So 16,000 CFM is probably not going to be enough anymore. And since we don’t know that, we have to leave this blank. We can’t calculate the fan power yet because we don’t know the CFM. This is sort of an iterative process here, so this is something we’re going to leave alone.
