Hi All,
In my project i have high speed disel fired boiler for
service hot water requirement how can i model it because in boiler
source there is no source as disel.
And it the design is such that the hot water set point is 60F and it
if preated through solar collector and if achived 60C the disel boiler
wont operate and if not able to achive 60C due to weather conditions
say till 50C then only disel boiler will operate to heat through
additional 10F then in such case how can we claim savings of hot water
in proposed case because solar heater is reducing the hours of
operation of disel boiler how can we quantify those hours.
I look forward for your valuable response.
Thanks

Is there not an option for an oil-fired boiler?

Yes -- in detailed mode you assign a fuel meter to each boiler. Create
a fuel meter of type "Fuel Oil" and assign it to your boiler and modify
your boiler HIR accordingly. (You can also add electricity for the
burner or fuel pump as an auxillary load on the boiler.)
I have the following mass flow data for a compressor. I could select points and insert it into eQuest but I was wondering if there were a faster way to create the coefficients for the bi-quadratic curve? Can this be done in excel or is there some other program I could use?
Thanks for the help.

The EER of WWHP can vary from 11.8 to 23.3 depending on the water temperature
returning from the well field. Equest model this?
My group is currently using Trace and I'm looking for a good reason to use
equest, this may be a big reason.
(Also, I've designed a cascading system, so if the return ground water is
cold, it goes to the WWHP making chilled water, then that water goes to the
WWHP making hot water, and vice-versa if the if the return ground water is
warm, can this also be modeled?)

Polysun is the only tool I'm aware of that can model WWHPs tied to a GHEX.

There's some discussion on this topic in the eQUEST users archives
