Sketch up to eQuest interoperability

Hello -

I want to make the the 3-d model of the building (since it is complex) in a
tool such as Sketch up and then bring the gbxml file into eQuest.

Does anyone know any plug-in to convert sketch up files to gbxml.

I understand that Revit can do this but I do not have access to Revit.
Suggestions for any free tools and ideas will be appreciated.

Thank You.

Hi Pranita - a free Revit-based offering that might suffice as well is Autodesk Vasari. Please visit: http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/vasari/

2 minute download, fast install...

I am curious to know how you (the community) have modeled indirect DHW heaters
in the past. There are two methods that I know of, and have employed in the
past.

1. Model the DHW load as a process load on you boiler loop. When done this way,
you get the actual DHW energy consumption because the boilers will be at the
proper point on the efficiency curves. The down side is that you don't get the
proper energy breakdown in the eQuest results summary.

2. Model the DHW heater with the same curves as your boilers. When done this
way, the results may be off because your boiler and DHW heater will be at
different points on the efficiency curves, but you will have the proper
breakdown in the summary.

Does anyone have a better solution for modeling an indirect fired domestic hot
water heater?

I have tried using these toold before. My skecth up program always crashes
the minute I start putting materials in gmodelor.

Any experience with gmodelor?

Pranita,

I did not even think about that. Vasari is an excellent choice. I use it.
