HOT2000 is a free residential energy analysis tool used in Canada and
developed by CanmetENERGY at Natural Resources Canada. It is used by
building practitioners, energy analysts and within federal and
provincial energy conservation programs.
A next generation version of HOT2000, coined "HOT3000" is in beta
testing and replaces the monthly bin engine used in HOT2000 with the
ESP-r engine. HOT3000 also offers a 3D viewer for verifying geometry.

In Texas, you can use the IC3 software to check code compliance. This is a web-based software that requires no previous knowledge of simulation. This free software can be found at "ic3.tamu.edu". It evaluates IECC 2001-2009 code compliance in Texas using DOE2.1e as the simulation engine for single family and multifamily residences. Documentation and RESNET test results can be found on-line.
TREAT and Energy Pro are used to simulate multifamily and single family
