Did you know that there is a significant percentage of women in the
building simulation community - more than most of the other types of
engineering? Have you considered what types of learning and professional
environments yield fulfillment and success in the building industry? Where
is the direction of our industry? How can we build and improve our
community here in the Midwest?

There are incredibly talented people in Wisconsin and the region that have
careers in building performance and simulation. Many of them happen to be
women. This event will honor their accomplishments, discuss performance
aspects of the significant building projects, and host a panel discussion
of women in building performance and simulation.

Please join us all for an event on Thursday September 19th at *Thermal
Energy System Specialists*

on
beautiful Capitol Square in Madison.

*Date & Time: *Thu, September 19, 2019; 5:30 PM ? 7:00 PM CDT
Register Now

*The agenda is as follows:*

- 5:30pm - Networking with Drinks and Light Appetizers
- 6:00pm - Women in Building Performance and Simulation Panel Discussion
with Brittany Carl Moser, Shona O'Dea, Shana Scheiber, and Rebecca Upham
- 6:45-7:00pm - Q & A with the Panel

The purpose of this event is to be insightful, educational, and
inspirational. We kindly welcome people from industry, education, and
sustainable business networks to attend.

*Speaker Bios:*

Brittany Carl Moser, EI, LEED AP Homes
, is a Building Performance
Consultant at Affiliated Engineers in Madison, WI. Her passion for
improving quality of life bent her toward education in environmental
engineering and sustainable design at the University of Florida with a
focus in outdoor and indoor environmental quality and resource
conservation. Brittany first worked in residential energy and water
modeling, energy audits, life-cycle assessment, and green building
certification. She then pursued further education in architectural/building
systems engineering at CU Boulder, with emphasis in optimizing energy
efficiency and occupant health/comfort via building simulations of
illumination, fluid dynamics, and energy use. At AEI, Brittany?s work
includes loads studies and energy modeling of lab and healthcare buildings.
Brittany also strives to impact the field through consulting in sustainable
community development abroad and ASHRAE project committees 189.1 and 189.3
(for high-performance green buildings and health-care facilities).

*Shona O'Dea, BEMP, RESET AP, WELL AP, CPHC, LEED AP.
* Shona?s focus on
efficiency and indoor environmental quality is an important component of
DLR Group?s Performance Design Team, supporting the firm's pursuit of
sustainable design and operation. Her primary goal is to challenge people
to think differently about the way they design and operate buildings,
advising teams from sustainable goal setting to efficient operations. She
uses building simulation to help designers quantify energy savings and
understand the interaction between building design, mechanical systems, and
the environment. Born and raised in Ireland, Shona earned an honors degree
in Building Services Engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology,
Ireland's leading sustainable building engineering program and moved to the
Midwest as part of the Atlantis dual master?s program in Sustainability,
Technology and Innovation at Purdue University. She currently serves as
Young Engineers in ASHRAE Region VI Coordinator and President of the
Chicago Chapter of IBPSA.

Rebecca Upham, PE, BEMP, LEED BD+C.
Rebecca has a Bachelor
of Science in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
and a Master of Science in architectural engineering with mechanical
emphasis from Penn State University. She has worked in the field of HVAC
engineering since 1997. Her work has primarily been focused on energy
conservation through energy audits on existing buildings and the use of
whole building energy modeling as a design tool for new construction
projects. She also has HVAC design experience which she leverages in her
energy modeling and consulting work. Rebecca currently works for Willdan as
an energy modeler participating in utility design assistance programs in
various parts of the country. She is also the mother of three outstanding
teenagers.

Shana Scheiber, PE, WELL AP, LEED AP, CEM

is
Building Performance Consultant at Affiliated Engineers. She provides
analysis and consulting for projects in pre-concepts through occupancy. Her
work involves, energy simulation, water modeling, light modeling, thermal
comfort analysis, life cycle costing, measurement and verification,
benchmarking, carbon footprint, detailed rate analysis and on-site energy
audits. Shana is dedicated to creating indoor environments focused on human
health, wellness and productivity while balancing energy/water usage. Shana
has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin
Madison and spends her time outside of work playing with her 2 young
daughters and training for her next big running or XC skiing event.
