Dear all,
I have a question about weather file conversion. I try to convert?epw?file into?bin?file by using "eQUEST weather format converter" but I always get "Invalid Filename" error.
Do anyone know how I can solve this problem.
ThanksBestGul Nihal
Hi Gul,
The problem is the floating point configuration on Windows.?
In Latin American we use "."? (Example: 1.000.000) to separate the three digts and use the "," to separate the integer from the decimal part of a number (example: (12,33). In the USA they use "," and ".", respectively.
You should change the configuration of your format on? "Regional and Language Options"? from the current setting to ?nglish (United States). After that, the?eQ_WthProc will work.
Best Regards,
Jos? Luis

I find this explanation rather questionnable.? How do the different conventions in
floating point configurations lead to an "Invalid Filename" error?
This sounds more like something wrong in the path or location of the file.
If changing the Regional and Language Options on your machine indeed fixes the problem,
please let us know.? Or, if it doesn't, let us know too!

eQ_WthProc.exe is very particular about path and file names. You need to specify the full path to the ?EnergyPlus weather file?.
I find renaming the .epw file to remove space helpful.
I place the .epw file in:\Documents\eQUEST 3-65 Data\Weather\EPW\SourceFiles\
is your user name
C:\Users\
I set the Processed file name to the same as the .epw file name.
I select this folder for ?Will be created here?:
C:\Users\crj\Documents\eQUEST 3-65 Data\Weather\EPW\Processor
Follow on question:
There is a checkbox on the EPW Weather File Conversion dialog:
?Calculate Solar Direct-Normal based on Global Horizontal radiation instead?
Instead of what?
I have tested and the solar numbers are different when you check that box.
