Problem in simulate a heat-pump chiller with cooling tower

Dear all,

Recently I am trying to do heat-pump screw chiller with a fluid cooling tower for a commercial building in a sub-tropical area, which means it will mostly run like a normal chiller and will supply HW in 40 degreeC for heating in just two or three month. Meanswhile, whenever I chose Loop-Loop Heat Pump and just Heat Pump for chiller type, the chiller obviously can not be connected to the CW loop but only to LAKE/WELL loop. Can anyone please give me any advice to solve this issue and simulate this system?

Thank you!

Jimmy

I would try modelling it as a heat pump chiller connected to a 2-pipe loop which controls when it is in heating or cooling mode.

Thanks Brain. I tried your advice and it can be excellent if I was modelling a proposed building. However, I am modelling an existing building with a fluid cooling tower. The hear pump chiller could not be connected to this CW loop if I make it connected to a 2-pipe loop. So is there any solution for that?

AndI am still not quite sure which chiller type should be use in this case, since it is a electric screw chiller. Is it correct that it shoule be better choose Loop-Loop Heat Pump or just Heat Pump to make it connected to all CHW, CW and HW loops?

Thank you.

Regards,
Jimmy

Is this a regular chiller and and are you using heat recovered from it to
heat the hw loop? If yes, you can use the heat recovery field on the
chiller tab and set it to the hw loop, with the heat recovery % at 80%-85%.
