Tools for schematic energy modeling?

Hello eQUEST Users,

I'm working on a project and need to do some early schematic energy
modeling for early design decisions regarding envelope components,
orientation, etc.

At this point, there is a basic footprint and general space layout but very
little detail. And it is very likely that the floor plans will change
significantly between now and final design documents.

I'm wondering if anyone has any tools or recommendations for doing early
schematic energy modeling like this?

Thank you,

Hi Michael,

You can give a try to Openstudio. Its Sketchup plugin will help in creating
geometry and PAT module will help in evaluating various design options.

Hello Michael,
May be you can use comfen tool (
https://windows.lbl.gov/software/comfen/comfen.html) for early design
analysis.

Michael,

For the envelope, take a look at this ?Back of the Envelope? calculator: http://seventhwave.org/boecalc
It won?t do building orientation, so I imagine something else will be more suitable for this task.
