Question - Final parametric runs for building rotations

I'm a first time equest modeler.

I'm trying to finish a model for a renovated building for LEED submission (LEED Online).

I have the proposed and baseline models done at this point.

My proposed building was created first in DD wizard, I then did all the compliance inputs manually in detailed edit, and made sure my utility unit rates were all accurate for my state, everything good to go.

I should note that I did have some problems running LEED compliance analysis in equest version 7163 (which for some reason involved a specific below grade wall component). When I opened the model and ran compliance analysis in equest version 7154 everything worked great so I've been using it ever since.

I later found out that a lot of modelers create the baseline model first, but I did the proposed first in this case because I went through each process in the user guide's DD wizard section (maybe I just misunderstood the process).

I ran a successful compliance analysis on the proposed model.
When this is done, equest says:

"LEED Analysis Completed. Generation of the LEED baseline building model was successfully completed. The following baseline design project includes parametric runs for each building rotation for your convenience in performing those simulations" - followed by the name of the PD2 file the baseline is saved as.

I've gone back to the both proposed and baseline models and have verified all systems and inputs are exactly dialed in the way they should be - with some amazing, insightful help from Nick Caton, Brian Fountain and others throughout the process, I should add.

My baseline building is now done and I want to do the final parametric runs to simulate the building rotations.

Question - Does the message just mean the parametric runs for each rotation are configured in the baseline model and just need the simulations run?

What is the normal way to proceed from this point?

Hi Chris,

First, thanks for the shout-out!

It has been a long while since I tried leveraging the LEED compliance
ruleset, so I can?t recall the specifics, but if you try to simulate the
baseline project and are immediately prompted to select one of a series of
parametric runs (via checkboxes), then you are likely set to go. If you do
not see such a prompt with at least 4 checkboxes (inclusive of the
?Baseline? run), then you need to set those up yourself. Report back if
you need help on that front!

+1 tip:

Whether you use the compliance ruleset or not to develop your baseline,
once everything is totally ready to go and you you have your parametric
runs set up and simulated, a handy feature I do make regular use of is the
?Export > LEED Results (CSV)?? feature under the File menu. This
organizes end use consumptions/demand in a way that makes filling out the
online EAp2 template about as painless as one could hope for?

Good morning, Cris,

You said your project is a renovation. If the project is at least 50%
existing building, you should not rotate the Baseline case (see Table
G3.1#5(Baseline)(f) which states that the building is modeled as it exists).

Mr. Fitzgerald,

Thank you! The entire building shell remained only with the added EIFS, new windows to replace existing, new roof buildup over existing. We did not build anything on the exterior of the pre-existing building - which was a CMU religious structure I calculated to be built back in 1941 based on some of the old drawings.

Part of the building was a wood-framed classroom addition built in 1980's but our EIFS layer covers the entire building.

We also did some minor interior renovations but 90 percent of the interior framing remained. We replaced the gypboard, replaced all doors, replaced all windows, etc..

The major part of the renovation was the HVAC and heating and replumbing all the fixtures.

Stairs up to the balcony level remained we just installed new cable-infilled railing with oak caps.

The existing mech room remained unchanged in size/shape from existing also (in the basement).
