Question on Energy consumption results

Hi,

I am modelling on Design Development wizard, I am changing VLT of glass ,
but there is no change in area lights consumption.
Why is it so ?

I have switched off daylight control.
When I switch on , the results show changes.

Regards

What's the VLT values thay you're using?

Hello!

If I had to make a guess, a relatively common issue I?ve uncovered would start with checking whether the glass being revised, before editing, is using the glass library specification method (i.e. your glass is defined via code like 2004). In that scenario, you are permitted to add/define inputs used with the simplified method of defining glass like VIS-TRANS and GLASS-CONDUCT through parametric inputs, but they won?t ?hook? and accomplish anything. You?d need to swap your glass inputs over to simplified first, or else look up another library entry appropriate for your VLT switch and edit that assignment instead.

If this doesn?t cover it, there are a myriad of daylighting-related inputs which may throw off the expected behavior. It would probably be most time-efficient for you to share a copy of the model files (pd2/inp) with the list, and to indicate the specific window(s) you are expecting to observe results by editing. It would also in that context be helpful to know whether you used the wizards to help you set up the space daylighting inputs before toggling to ?No? daylighting.

Hi,

I checked it for already defined glass library by comparing single and
double glass unit with varying specs, the area light is not changing.

I have customised the windows and curtain wall required for the project and
have customised glass specification depending on U value, SC, VLT.
Base case
U value- 1 Btu/h-ft2-F
SC-0.42
VLT-0.26

I need to check with DGU glass and overhangs what would be energy
consumption.

When I switch on the daylight control for all shell components, the
simulation run says error.

I am attaching the file .
Please check by changing the SC and VLT, is the area light consumption
changing?

Thanks

I?m confused by your original question, before you received an error sounds like the program was working properly.

With daylighting controls ?off? area lighting consumption should not change, regardless of window properties the lighting will run per your schedules.

In eQUEST, the VLT should not matter unless you have the daylighting
controls turned on, which is in line with what you seem to have discovered
already.
Once you turn daylighting on, and based on your daylighting inputs, you
should typically see changes to a few end-uses including lighting, cooling,
heating, and fans.

PFA Files-.inp & pd2

FYI- If I switch daylight off for shell component-Floor 5, the simulation
runs otherwise it shows error.

I have switched on daylight for rest of the shell component to observe area
light changes.

Assuming Floor 5 is EL3 Ground Flr, daylighting is working if I add it to EL3 SW Perim ML Spc (ML.SW1) and EL3 WNW Perim Spc (G.WNW2). Detailed Mode
