PhD Studentships in Energy Systems: Buildings and Engines

Applications are invited for 4 PhD studentships as part of the Energy Research Challenge at Loughborough University (http://tinyurl.com/nntc84m).

The Energy Research Challenge supports cross-disciplinary work across the energy research landscape. Energy is a field in which Loughborough has a substantial volume of activity and is internationally renowned. The engines and building energy systems research will benefit from substantial capital investment through the Midlands Universities Energy Research Accelerator. 4 PhD studentships are offered that will capitalise on this opportunity.

Applications are particularly welcome in the following areas: The Application of Cryogenic Fluids to Engine Systems, which demands a background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline); Assessing the Performance of Domestic Heating Systems with Energy Storage, Urban Energy Systems Modelling, and Advanced Fa?ade Technologies for New Build and Retrofit, these projects demand a background in building physics or related engineering and science disciplines.

Applicants must have a minimum upper second class degree or equivalent, at undergraduate level and preferably a Masters Degree in an appropriate discipline.

The studentship provides a tax free stipend of ?14,057 per annum plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate annum for a period of three years. Non UK applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements, details available here: http://tinyurl.com/o97mtka.
