*ANNOUNCEMENT: ISHRAE makes available for free "typical year" weather
files for 62 locations in India*
ISHRAE (The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and
Air-Conditioning Engineers) is pleased to announce the Webrelease of a
new set of "typical year" weather files for 62 locations in India. This
new set of ISHRAE weather files was created with the help of White Box
Technologies (USA) utilizing weather data from various sources,
including the Indian Bureau of Meteorology, the US National Center for
Environmental Data (NCEI), and satellite-derived solar radiation data
from the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
36 of the weather files(ISHRAE2) are entirely new, while 26 (ISHRAE1M)
are from an earlier 2005 set of ISHRAE weather fileswith updated solar
radiation.
This new weather data can be accessed in several ways:
1. ISHRAE's 2014 publication /Indian Weather Data/with the data files
on DVD (see here
for details).
2. Free web download of individual weather files at the following two
sites:
http://weather.whiteboxtechnologies.com/ISHRAE2(*.CSV, *.epw, *.BINM,
and *.FIN)
www.climate.onebuilding.org(*.epw only)
Technical details about these weather files are explained in this paper
at the BS 2015 conference in Hyderabad.
ISHRAE acknowledges the support of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency,
Ministry of Power of the Government of India , and the technical work of
White Box Technologies in creating these weather files.

A correction: Climate.OneBuilding.org (http://climate.onebuilding.org)
provides EnergyPlus (EPW), ESP-r (CLM) and Daysim Radiance (WEA) for all
weather files. For the ISHRAE data set we also provide DOE-2 (.bin) and
spreadsheet summaries for each location. In addition, out of range and data
errors are fixed in all data sets and documented on our web site.

Thanks for the corrections. I plead ignorance or lack of diligence
because I became aware of climate.one.building.org hosting the ISHRAE
weather file a month ago only from working with a student in India with
questions about the differences between the *.BINM and *.epw versions of
the ISHRAE files. At that time, both he and I saw that the web site
contained only the epws. As far as the corrections to the ISHRAE files
that you spoke of, I'm disappointed these were never reported to me as
the developer of the files as a professional courtesy. I also can't tell
whether the epw (and *.bin) files were direct copies of what I provided
to ISHRAE, or regenerated by climate.onebuilding.org.
