New eQuest Version

Does anyone know when the new version of eQuest is going to be available on the DOE2 website? I have heard they are passing it out when you attend a training seminar; but who has time to attend one of these seminars? Just starting a new project and wondering if I should wait a week for the new version or not, thanks in advance.

Here's hoping it will someday include VRV and other new system types....

The best way to make sure this sort of thing gets included in future
versions is to let the people in charge of funding eQuest development
know. The development team wants to get as complete a package that they
can, however getting funding is difficult for them because they can't
always prove the usefulness of many of these additions. Any emails they
get can be used as leverage to help get additional funding.

A few months ago there was a list of improvements being floated around.
What happened to that? Is anyone still maintaining it, or did it get
signatures and get sent to the development team?

Cheers,

A few months ago, Eric Shadd sent requests for a wish list of improvements -
I gathered a bunch and I believe he was keeping track of them in a
spreadsheet.

Eric - any update on that? Perhaps we should send one more request for
improvements and then send it off to the eQUEST development team?

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I would add chilled beams to my wish list. The other one would be the
ability to get a basic (center of room) MRT value in the hourly
reporting function.

Last but not least - a Sketchup plugin

Underfloor air distribution system would also be helpful

I second that, as well as data center equipment.

I agree with all the previous emails.

How about also adding:
1) The ability to drag and drop within the spreadsheet function of the detailed interface, and the ability to copy and paste multiple cells into multiple pieces of equipment.
2) An output report that shows the annual energy cost by end-use
3) An output report that exactly matches the LEED NC 2.2 (Or current version) EA Credit 1 Template
4) A Std 90.1 default option. (Equipment efficiencies, insulation values, ect., would match the current requirements of standard 90.1 & App. G to speed the process of creating a baseline for LEED analysis)
5) A Std 90.1 compliance option similar to the title 24 compliance option
6) A library of HVAC equipment (by manufacturer and model #) that can be imported in the same way that glazing can be imported
7) A wizard like function within the detailed interface that would allow you to change the shape of the envelope more easily than can be done now.

While we're at it:

1. I'd really like a water-to-water heat pump that works off any type of
heat pump loop!

2. Allow heat recovery for chillers greater than the hourly chilling
capacity (i.e. allow heat recovery for the heat of compression).

3. Allow desiccant dehumidifiers to use outdoor air to dehumidify a space,
without providing outdoor air as ventilation. (the DOE 2 help file shows
this, but it doesn't actually operate this way).

4. Allow mandatory cooling and then re-heat of air in an air handler.

5. Eliminate duplicate underground constructions coming out of the wizard.

6. Eliminate duplicate infiltration schedules coming out of the wizard.

7. Include the ability to model vaulted ceilings in the wizard

8. Include the ability to model ERV's in the wizard.

9. Include the ability to model partially underground basements in the
wizard.

10. I definitely second the call for a library of equipment. Climate
Master has done this for their heat pump units. Maybe manufacturers can get
on this???

11. When fans are set to cycle, or be variable speed, maintain minimum
airflow required to provide ventilation air automatically.

The list goes on.

Please also add chilled water plant series and parallel waterside economizer
