Modify eQUEST.INI to get HVAC Summary file

Bill,

First off, thank you very much for this great tip/trick.

I'm hoping you, or anyone else on the board, has another trick up your
sleeves. I have a multitude of simulations I need to run and I need to
generate the base hourly results for each. This is conventionally done by
clicking on Tools > View Simulations Output > Open then clicking on the
Hourly Results button in the D2SimViewer (see below)

Is there a way to modify the eQuest.ini file, similar to the tip in the
previous post, that will have eQuest generate the Hourly Results by default
when running a simulation?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Dominique,

The Model Manager from RMI (Rocky Mountain Institute) may be what you are looking for. The User's Guide includes the HVAC_Summary tip that I described below (I had forgotten that's where I learned about it). RMI's Modeling Tools are downloadable here: http://www.rmi.org/ModelingTools

Bill,

Thank you very much for the recommendation. Unfortunately, after reading
through the Model Manager user guide, I've determined that this is not the
tool/trick I was looking for. I'll keep this reference bookmarked should I
need to make use of the Model Manager's batch functionalities in the future.

I was hoping for a simple preference setting similar to that HVAC Summary
csv file toggle in the eQuest.ini file (setting
StoreResults_HVAC_Summary=1). Though since the "Hourly Results" button and
functionality are part of the D2SimViewer, what I'm hoping to achieve may
require some scripting rather just modifying an .ini file.

I think you are looking for the "hourly report" and "hourly report blocks" to log your variables. Change the setting to "print" and eQUEST will automatically write a CSV file.

The file will be called something along the lines of "name of your model... - Baseline Design - Hourly Results.csv"
