Job opening at LBNL's Simulation Research Group

1 post / 0 new

The Simulation Research Group is seeking a researcher to conduct research,
develop and deploy new generation modeling tools for building design and
operation based on the Modelica and FMI standards.

The candidate?s immediate tasks will be to develop, integrate and conduct
simulation-based and full-scale tests of Model Predictive Control
algorithms for building energy applications. The candidate will also
conduct research in how to extend and apply these computing technologies to
support research in urban systems and in the redesign of EnergyPlus to
allow Modelica and FMI-based HVAC and control simulation.

What you will do:

- Conduct research, implement and distribute computing tools for
building energy and control simulation based on Modelica, FMI and
mathematical programming packages for design and real-time applications.
- Develop and implement object-oriented equation-based simulation models
of building energy systems and their control algorithms.
- Link domain-specific simulation programs to each other to support
rapid prototyping, integrated whole-system level analysis and model-use
during operations.
- Lead projects that apply these tools in support of the above tasks.
- Conduct research and secure funding for the development of new
computing technologies for buildings.

A candidate is searched at either the Postdoctoral Fellow, Principal
Scientific Engineering Associate, or Computational Research Scientist level.
