Interpretation of Appendix G section G3.1.1

Hello all,

This is regarding an correct interpretation of Appendix G section G3.1.1
which says "For systems 5, 6, 7, and 8, each floor shall be
modeled with a separate HVAC system". Does it mean that more than one
system per floor is not acceptable for compliance?

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

Yes, if your *baseline* has a system 5 to 8, one system per floor is
required.

Just to say the obvious, this only applies to the *baseline*.
Your *proposed* model can have one system for the entire building for
example.

Best,
Julien

Javed,
Your citation refers to a Baseline Model. You can do anything else for the
Proposed model

Please be aware of G3.1.1 exception (b), when modeling the Baseline for a
typical office building that may have IT space(s) on the floor. If the
Proposed design has a dedicated system serving the IT space, it is more
than likely that the Baseline system 3 or 4 should should be utilized for
that area.
