How to input thermal masses on HAP?

Hello All,

I am investigating the use of Phase Change Material for a supermarket in Nicaragua and its impact on cooling load capacity. The phase change manufacturer we are working with sent us the following information to input into HAP:

M27 Heat Capacity

M51 Heat Capacity

Thickness [m]

0.027

0.051

Conductivity [W/m-K]

1.8

1.8

Density [kg/m3]

810

810

Specific Heat [J/kg-K]

13,384

13,384

The manufacturer said that he ran a similar model in eQuest and said that we should've seen a 20% reduction in the cooling load. However, when I run the load calcs, the total cooling load capacity is similar to the cooling load of the baseline roof. I entered the following information for the M51 material for the roof under the Roof Properties, as shown below (I had to enter the material twice because HAP only allows a max specific heat value of 8.37 KJ/kg/K).

My question is: am I inputting the thermal mass information right, or is there a better workaround to this? Has anyone had experience with modeling phase change material in HAP?

Thanks,
