Dear All,
I'm simulating a large commercial building for LEED compliance. There i am
facing a major issue in pumping power annual consumption. The proposed case
pumping power is almost 7 times higher than the ASHRAE baseline case which
has great impact on my overall anticipated savings. I've generated hourly
report to see the pump operations power and found propose case pump is
running all year round whereas baseline is running as per building
operating hours. I've thoroughly checked all the schedules assigned and it
seems fine to me. My gut feeling is there is some load which is driving the
pump to run throughout the year. I would appreciate if someone can give
expert advice to troubleshoot this.
Thanks in Advance!!

Did you put the entity (chiller, boiler) that the pump is serving on DEMAND? Otherwise, the pump will never stop.

Yes, All the chilled water loop operation is on demand. As such there is no
heating so all the problem is on chilled water pump.
Thanks!!
Then there is a cooling load that is not shutting off. A space on 24/7? Send the .INP and .PD2. And version number. Not all of us have gone to 3.65.

John
you can set pump schedule in chilled water loop to force pump running as per building operating hours .

Hi,
Continuing to the above problem, I've generated hourly kWh consumption for
all pumps and found that pump power in "Annual Energy Consumption End use
report" is almost double than the summation of hourly pumps kWh consumption
which includes Primary, Secondary and Condenser pumps.
Does eQuest reports all pumping power (Primary, Secondary and Condenser
pumps) in pumps & auxiliary section?
I would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks in Advance!
Don't know whether the humidifer is included in your project.the consumption of humidifer is usually included in pumps & auxiliary section.

Javed, I had a similar issue with high pumping energy on a model last year. Send us your .pd2 and .inp and weather file and I can run it on my computer and see if I can help you find the issue that is pushing your model results too high.
