Oh I?m glad you brought it up ? a chance to brag a little?
I happen to have personally measured heat exchange at the associated campus steam heat exchanger for potable hot water trended with good correlation to the average daily drybulb? so the waters are as clear as I could hope for in that direction ;-)!

Thank you so much, Julien!
Did you mean to CC the mailing list in reply? I?d like to share your resources with the community for record if there isn?t a reason to keep this between us (and Bill, of course)!
I also received (off list) under separate cover the literal FORTRAN subroutine (ctrl-F for GTEMP in the attached) that eQuest and its associated weather utility program use to derive monthly temps? I?ll try to wrap this into my share out & conclusion post for the community as well, though TBH in this moment: where I can follow ~90% of this code, that last 10% leaves me scratching my head in trying to correctly interpret the variables? Maybe some digging into the Burch & Christensen correlation you shared will reveal some insights/parallels in the actual methodology.

I did mean to cc the mailing list, I just failed to do so because I'm on my phone. Feel free to forward my message.
I got pretty used to reading fortran due to some side programs of E+, if you are indeed stuck I can help, just let me know

Hi Nick,
I use the 1 meter ground temperatures reported by eQuest. eQuest will estimate the monthly ground temperatures from the weather file is not explicitly listed in the .inp file. 1 meter is likely not deep enough for most locations but it does illustrate the lag in ground temperature from the outdoor air temperature. The .epw file also includes ground temperatures.
