SD Bldg Shell -Change in bldg shell order

Hello All -

I am working on a multistory building with 15 floor types (E1 to E15).
After doing all the 15 shell types we have decided to split the E1 into 5
different shells (E1, E1a, E1b, E1c, E1d) since the zoning is very
different on each of these floors.

I was able to create new shells( by copying data from E1) and place them
above the corresponding floor. I am having issues when it comes to placing
my E2 above E1d.

In the schematic design wizard screen 1, in Posiiton this shell immediately
above............... (where we have to pick the shell from the drop down
list), here I do not see the E1d shell (which I created after all the above
above shells were created.

I changed the prefix names to E1a to E1d instead of using the default
eQuest names.

Currently E2 says its above E1, instead it has to be above E1d. The drop
down list does not show E1d. I saved and simulated the model assuming it
might then populate the new shells in the drop down list. This did not work.

Any thoughts on how to fix this.

Hi Pranita,

The thing that you can do is to change the Z coordinate in detailed mode to
be one above another. For this you will have to go in detailed mode then
use the building shell to get the floor properties window.
You can see that the Z coordinate in the below example is 24 ft.
Similarly, one can input the respected floors Z coordinate as per the
elevation of the building.
For example in your case if the E5 is having floor height 48 ft, then you
can input the respected 48 ft in Z coordinate and remaining 12, 24 ,36 in
E2 , E3, E4 respectively. This is as per assumption that for each floor
height the floor to floor height is 12 ft.
Similarly you will have to input various z coordinates for each floor to be
in order.
Find the window to be edited below as an example.

You will have to do it for each floor. You will have to manipulate the
things as per your case.

Thanks,
Sharad

Hello Pranita,

In the wizard mode, when you want to place a shell on top of another one,
the order matters. If you created the E1d after you created E2, then the
wizard does not give you the option to put it on top of it as it does not
show it in the dropdown menu. You can checkmark the "specify exact
coordinate" under that dropdown menu and write the coordinates accordingly
(So whatever it is for E1d but change the Z value to be on top of it).

Hope this helps
