Loop to Loop Heat Pump Error

Hi All,

does anyone have any experience with modeling the Loop to Loop Heat Pump
chiller? I'm getting the following error in my file, and right now I am
auto-sizing everything just to test it to get the file to run. I cannot
locate/find where the Qhx Design, SupFlow, SupTi, SupTo key words are
linked too. The heat-Exchanger: HRC-T1 is the name of my LtLHP Chiller
that I input on the loops.

I've looked through the DOE-2 documents for LtLHP chiller and I can't find
where this error is occurring so that I can fix it. Any insight you can
offer will be appreciated.

I've also attached my .pd2 & .inp files if anyone is inclined to look at
them. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and your brains with me!

Would it bug you to learn this loads and simulates without error on my end?

Gut check: are you being deliberate to open and simulate with the ?release testing? build 7174?

Hi Nick- yes I am using the 7174 build. And I even tried Doe 2-3, which doesn?t support geothermal loops and LtLHP chillers.

Are you using the previous build version? If yes, then I will go back to that for this model...

Thanks!

Thanks David, at this point I just don?t know. I looked through the .inp file too and couldn?t find those keywords either. That is when I turned to the group for more help.
I?m completely stumped on this one...

Hopefully Nick?s software version control works. If not, maybe you can track down those keywords in the BDL(?) file ? I forget ? the file with the compiled syntax, where the INP doesn?t echo back fields with default values?

Pasha,
Like Nick, I had no problem getting the model to run using 3.65 build 7174 in DOE2.2 mode.
It also runs in 3.64 build 7130, once I remove the line ?HVACDefaulted = 1? from the pd2 file.
A couple suggestions:

- Go to the Miscellaneous tab of the chiller and Restore Default to the four Heat Exchanger inputs. The error message you sent makes me think these have non-default values.

- Copy the .pd2 and .inp files you sent into a new folder and try opening it again.
Regards,
~Bill

Sorry for omitting some of these helpful details.

1. I too am loading and running in DOE2.2 mode from build 7174
2. I can?t be completely certain as I didn?t keep good records of my install files, but I believe this is build currently published in the doe2.com downloads section, tagged ?release testing? (or similar)
3. Commenting to Bill?s suggestion, as I loaded this up I did look for and find those four values are defaulted, but they don?t appear to line up with the values listed in your original error for Ti (in) and To (out) for the two sides of the HX. You might additionally try manually setting these inputs to match mine regardless of how they default in your instance:

Hello & THANK YOU to Bill, Nick, David, Brian, & Jeff!

I always appreciate you all taking time out of your busy busy schedules to
offer some help. I am just now able to get back to my computer and work
on the project tonight. I will re-look at my file and try the suggestions
you all have made. Fingers-crossed it all goes smooth for this attempt.

Cheers,
Pasha

Pasha, would you mind sharing the ?working? inp/pd2 when you?re done? I?ll be facing the same issue shortly.
