So I have it running and thought I'd share how I got there and what (I think) got it going. Just in case it helps anyone else who steps into the same pot hole.
Into the hole
* I started in the Wiz with DOE 2.2 (by mistake, as this project has DOAS w/ HR) and switched, in the Wiz, to 2.3
* After some wrestling I had it running from the Wiz.
* I switched to the detailed mode and with some edits it was running.
* After a few more edits ( removing what I usually remove after switching to Detail mode ) I got messages about design days and added them (never having had to use design days before) and that was when the fun started.
Out of the hole (with the help of multiple gracious Equest-users)
* Fixed fan schedule - I had specified a supply fan schedules with a ON/OFF FLAG schedule with fractional hourly input value (meant to be a VAV Exhaust Fan schedule that had not been converted to FRACTION)
* Remove zone min air flows and only specify them at the system level.
Don't know why those trespasses got me in the hole as I am sure I've committed worse offences and the Error messages always lead me back to firmer ground.

Nice sleuthing Melissa. I cannot think of why setting the minimum supply flows in the zones vs the system would create an error?
