Hello,
I need to model a wall that is partially below grade. My basement is only
about 4' below grade & using the wizard so far I cant figure out a way to
represent this. What is the easiest way to go about this? I am trying to
stay in the wizard as long as possible.
Thanks,
Ryan Lacey
As you have guessed, you cannot do this in the wizard. So, in the
wizard, create the u/g wall. Then in detailed mode, set the u/g wall
height to 5'. Then create new exterior walls (copying upper walls) and
set their height to 4' with their Z value at 5' -- one for each side of
the basement as appropriate, linked to the appropriate vertex.
It sounds complicated but is fairly straight forward when you get going.
Bonne chance,
Brian
In detailed edit, one can assign polygons to wall components. Make the polygon to resemble the elevation and assign to the wall component. Getting into custom rendering will certainly require a trial and error adjustment.
Brian: In the DD wizzard, can you create a shell 4'below grade and then
create a second shell directly above the first shell that is above grade
of whatever height is required?

Ryan-
To my knowledge, this cannot be done in the wizard.
However, it can be accomplished in the detailed mode. Depending on the
geometry of the below/above grade walls you may have to edit and create new
polygons. But if they are only going to be simple rectangles than it is
very simple. Just reduce the height of your below grade wall. Then create
a new external wall on the same space and vector location and position/size
it correctly.
Let me know if you need further help with this.
