eQuest - query

Hey there eQuest Users,

I?m new to the eQuest softwarr,

Please find the attached screenshot given below. It?s a multi-storey
building with G+6 floors (distributed differently building-wise, some are
G+4) and 3 Basement floors. There are 5 shells totally.

I?ve finished entering details on the Wizard mode and have moved on to the
Detailed mode; However, inorder to enter more specific details (zonewise),
multiple active systems are available as seen. I?m not quite sure if every
zone entry needs to be made. And also how does eQuest generate default zone
definitions ? The template given doesn?t match to the ones given such as EL1
Sys1 (MZS) (G.W1).

*Thanks & Regards, *

Hi Tanya,

Are you trying to ask "why are so many systems created?"

-It is because in wizard mode-under the ?Air side systems? tab, you have
selected your system to be "system per zone". That?s the reason why you
have one system for each zone.

ASHRAE appendix says that in Baseline case"System per floor? should be used
and for the proposed case it has to be modeled as per the HVAC drawings.
(multiple zones under 1 system as applicable)

As of now you have already entered detailed wizard mode, so I guess the
only option you have is to create new systems and assign the zones to it.

Hope I am clear

Revert if any assistance needed.

Thanks,

Tejas

Hi Tejas,

Thanks for your input. I?ve understood the mistake.

I do have files saved at different stages in eQuest, which could be of help
to proceed from wizard to detailed mode again.

However, what if the system assignment to zones in the actual building
operations is different (i.e. zones in different shells could have supply
from the same HVAC system)? Is there any possibility to model like that?

Thanks,

Tanya

Yes Tanya,

You can model same HVAC system for Zones belonging to different shells.

You can do it better in detailed edit mode-

1. Just create the HVAC system example (HVAC System 1)

2. open the zones you need to assign to this system

3. Set the Parent System to "HVAC system 1"
