Job Description
Alternative Energy Systems Consulting, Inc. (AESC) has an opening for an
experienced Senior Energy Engineer with expertise in HVAC&R systems,
building energy simulations, retro-commissioning and facility auditing.
This position will reside in our Carlsbad or Pasadena, CA offices and
will provide technical assistance companywide for a variety of programs
focused on building energy efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Use eQuest and other energy efficiency analytical tools to evaluate
the performance of, and make recommendations for, HVAC&R systems and
equipment.

* Review and analyze energy savings calculations for HVAC, building
envelop and refrigeration systems to confirm reasonableness of
forecasted energy savings and demand reduction.

* Perform site inspections and/or gather the data needed to perform
energy-related analyses of sites or HVAC&R equipment.

* Prepare written analysis of findings and recommendations for energy
efficiency, demand response, and self-generation measures for submittal
to clients.

* Interact closely with Program Managers and clients in order to meet
project deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree
required. Advanced engineering degree or MBA highly desireable.

* Professional Engineer license in the State of California preferred.

* Minimum of eight years experience in energy efficiency and/or HVAC&R
field.

* Strong working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and
refrigeration systems.

* Proficient knowledge of energy analysis software, particularly eQuest
simulation model.

* Ability to conduct fieldwork and interact with clients in a
professional and responsive manner.

* Ability to interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
as well as equipment nameplate data and manufacturer specifications.

* Ability to apply thermodynamic concepts such as cycle efficiency and
conservation of energy.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

* Must have reliable transportation; this position requires considerable
travel to customer sites.
