Creating a Single Packaged DX Coil with Gas Furnace

Good Day,

This may seem like a simplistic question as I'm new to eQUEST.

I am familiar with different cooling systems but not so much heating
systems.

I need to add in a combined single zone DX Coil package with natural gas
used for heating, from the specs I have I assume it's a furnace with a hot
water coil.

It's a carrier.

However in Equest there isn't a combined system so I added in two systems
one for the Single Zone DX Coil Cooling only then added in a separate entry
for the heating as a furnace with a hot water coil.

I ran the model but when going into the detailed model I don't see the hot
water coil, if I add it into the heating tab then I need to add a hot a
water loop and there is none.

I might be totally off the mark here but am battling with this section, any
assistance would be great.

Thanks

Regards

Hi Damon,
Can you provide the Carrier product sheet for the unit? A packaged DX unit will generally be natural gas-fired, though it could have a hot water coil. It would be unusual to have both, but you could model it that way in a single unit if needed. (You could model a gas-fired 'Furnace' preheat coil along with a Hot Water Loop for the main SYSTEM:HEAT-SOURCE for example.) But you say there is no HW loop, so why would it have a HW coil?
I suspect you should model this as a PSZ system ("Pkgd Single Zone", which only comes with DX cooling) with FURNACE for HEAT-SOURCE. Your ZONE-HEAT-SOURCE should be "Not Installed" unless you have a reheat coil.

Hi Bill,

I managed to crack it a few hours ago as a packaged DX unit with furnace as
the heat source with ZONE HEAT SOURCE not installed.

I suspected the spec sheet provided was in error when they referred to hot
water coil plus I'm getting expected energy consumption more or less so must
be on the right track.

Thanks
