Cooling Energy consumption in Winter

Hi there,

I am modeling a VAV system in eQUEST. The designed system mechanical cooling is shut off in the winter. The VAV system selection in eQUEST results in winter mechanical cooling energy consumption. How can we model the mechanical cooling to shut off in the winter. I have tried number ways with no success. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Create an availability schedule that locks it out during the winter months. The real question is why does it think you have a cooling load in the winter.

Further to this, ensure your chilled water loop operation is not set to
Standby which will cause standby chiller losses all through the winter even
if there is no load. You can set the loop to Demand (only run when a
chilled water valve is open), Snap or Schedule it.
