[Bldg-sim] LEED Process Energy Reduction

1 post / 0 new

Team,

The project shows the following energy consumption/cost distribution
details.
Space Cool - 27%
Heat Reject. -1%
Vent. Fans -9%
Pumps & Aux.-6%
Ext. Usage -0%
Misc. Equip.-38% (office equipment's, lift, elevators, fire water pumping
system loads,etc)
Area Lights -19%
Question1:-
The proposed model shows savings in all areas except Misc equipment's.
However we are not getting the required savings due to large Misc
equipment loads.
We are thinking of altering the schedule of Misc equipment by providing
some control logic/best practices to get the required savings.
Is it acceptable ? If yes, what needs to be done in terms of
documentation?.

Question2:-
Is it acceptable by the LEED if the process/misc energy is kept at 25%
irrespective of actual Misc loads?.

Thanks for your valuable input.

Regards,
Kathiresan

Jeremy,

Did you file a CIR and get approval from USGBC before pursuing this, or
did you just assume USGBC would accept your logic? From where I was
raised, modifying process loads is forbidden territory. I?m thinking it
would be best to get CIR approval first.

Glad this worked out for you though.
