Baseline Efficiencies

Dear All,

I`m modelling a 3 floor non-building using the appendix G. According
to the size and type of the building, the baseline HVAC system type
would be a "packaged rooftop VAV with reheat" (system 6). The proposed
building has a heat pump for heating and cooling of about 500 kW. Does
anybody knows about the baseline efficiencies for both cooling and
heating? I have checked 90.1 standard and it seems that they would be
COP 1 (heating) COP 2.7 (cooling). Am I right?

Thanks,

If I understand you correctly, your Proposed Building has the 500 kW size of heat pump. What goes into the Baseline Case should be the COP based on all of the modeling assumptions from Appendix G and the actual physical configuration of the building, which may or may not be the same size as what is being installed.

Felipe,
-I think you?re right; Table 6.8.1A shows 9.2 EER which is 2.7 COP on cooling side (sized for electric heat ?760k).

Bill,

Thank you very much for your email. Since I have ASHRAE 90.1 2007 SI
Edition, the cooling efficiencies for a "split system and single
package" are in metric units. For cooling the minimum efficiency is
COP 2.7 (kW / kW) which is equivalent in imperial units to EER 9.2
(Btuh/kW). For heating the baseline efficiency will be COP 1 (Electric
Resistance).

Kind Regards,
