Basecase Supply Fan Power - ASHRAE 90.1-2004 (LEED COMMENT)

Hello Everyone,

Presently I am working on LEED NC V2.2 projects. My project is Office &
Warehouse; I received a comment from USGBC on EAc1 - Optimized Energy
Performance.

Comment:

It is unclear that Fan power is according to ASHRAE G3.1.2.9. Please provide
the detailed calculations. Please revise the sum of the supply, return,
exhaust (including Warehouse ventilation) and relief fans for each HVAC
system to be equal to the power calculated in G3.1.2.9.

Submitted data:

I have incorporated Fan details as per ASHRAE G3.1.2.9 in Energy Modeling
software (Visual DOE). But I need more clearance about the comment.

Explanation required:

As per my knowledge, Energy Modeling HVAC System Summary Calculations is
different with from Actual HVAC Load calculations. Also CFM, Cooling
Capacity, Fan Power Consumption, Total Power Consumption differs from
actual. How to incorporate Exhaust ventilation fans energy?

It would be appreciated if I get full details about ASHRAE G3.1.2.9 and
recommendations of LEED.

Thanks & regards,

Ashraf

Ashraf,

Your reviewer is asking you to demonstrate that you used ASHRAE
90.1-2004, Appendix G section G3.1.2.9 to calculate the fan energy in
your Baseline model.
You could supply a spreadsheet showing each system and the calculated
fan power. I don't know what the "HVAC System Summary" is in the
Explanation Required part of your message, so I can't address that part.
If you're concerned about how/if you should split fan power into
individual fans in each system, you can search the Bldg-sim Archive for
more specific advice:
