Atrium component error

Hi Joe:
Just had something like that happen to me. Try decoupling the HVAC from the groups, redrawing your spaces, recouple them, and see if that works.
I can send you a small successful two story atrium in DD Wizard i took out of the wizard to heighten the walls (didn't work correct IN the wizard), then reentered the Wizard with no problem.

Hi everyone!

Long time no see. Hope everyone is doing great.

Does anyone have any experience with or know a wizard work around to the 2
level atrium BDL error below?

The error occurs when leaving the wizard, and goes away when removing the
atrium from the wizard. It's as if spaces are created and referenced and
then removed but the reference remains in only those 5 lines.

Thank you

Hi Joe,

The clues you?ve provided fit your hypothesis, but without the BDL and/or
wizard files it?s hard to confirm 100%. Could also be there are 5
missing/expected unique plenum spaces NEXT-TO the atrium (for interior
surfaces) due to some quirky conflict between your shell and HVAC inputs?

The ?open to above/below? atrium options in the wizards can be
temperamental, and I find atriums spanning multiple floors often require
attention (detailed edits) post-wizards in any case to acheive the intended
result. I would examine the geometrical results in the 3D view with and
without the atrium being handled by the wizards, then make a gut check to
decide which will be the quicker fix and push forward.

Food for thought: If a ?multi-level? space isn?t actually an atrium, but
rather something like an unconditioned stairwell or chase, the gains in
modeled simulation accuracy may not be worth your time to combine each
level into one space. In other words, your time may be better invested
focusing on other parts of the simulation, leaving that exercise on your
?time allowing? list.

Hope that helps!

~Nick

Thank you John. I gave that a try in 2 different orders but no luck.

I will probably wind up deleting the atrium and make the top half unconditioned. It?s less than 1% of the building?s floor area so it isn?t the biggest deal, but would have looked nicer with everything modeled as designed!

Thanks again.
