I am looking for journal articles or any other literature comparing the
results of HOT2000 to EnergyPlus for similar buildings. I'm trying to get
an understanding of the accuracy of modelling with HOT2000 versus
EnergyPlus.
If anyone has any sources on this please let me know.

If you can find ASHRAE Standard 140 test results for these software packages one of them may have the other in the comparison (I think they usually have 6 in the test results). For example in the eQUEST test results it has Energy Plus, HOT3000 along with 3 other programs. See the results here:
